Supporter Data and Personal Information

World Horse Welfare values our supporters which is why we never share or sell your personal data to any third parties at any time. We are a participating member of the Fundraising Standards board and follow their recommendations. We also recommend to our supporters that they:

  • Sign up to appropriate preference services (including the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and Mailing Preference Service (MPS))
  • Remind them to keep an eye out for tick boxes on donation forms from you or other charities to opt out of unwanted contact
  • Remind them to beware of lifestyle surveys and competitions and ensure they specify if they want to be contacted by 3rd parties.

World Horse Welfare collects personal information supplied through the use of web forms. Under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998, World Horse Welfare only uses this information for any lawful matters related to the context in which you completed the form.


Your personal data will never be used for marketing purposes without your consent.


If you contact World Horse Welfare by email, we keep a record of that correspondence for the purpose of conducting charity business. We do not automatically, and without your consent, add any email addresses to any mailing databases, nor do we pass these to any third party.


World Horse Welfare takes the necessary security measures to safeguard your data, from risk of loss, destruction, unauthorised access, modifications or disclosure.

Your credit card information

If you use your credit card to donate to us, buy something or make a booking online, we pass your credit card details securely to our payment processing partner as part of the payment process. We do not store the details on our website.

Online Surveys

World Horse Welfare may also collect personal information supplied by you through the use of web-based surveys. This information will not be shared with any third party, and will only be used for subsequent communications, if agreed to by you, the user, at the time of submission.

Contacting us and/or accessing your personal information

Under current Data Protection legislation, you are entitled to know what personal information an organisation holds about you and how that information is processed. Requests for access to this information must be made in writing to our Human Resources department. Please note that applicants will be required to provide satisfactory proof of identity and pay the appropriate fee.
