Peanut is ready to be rehomed as a companion with potential. He is incredibly friendly and has been handled by children. We would love for him to find a home where he can not only fulfil a role as a companion but also go out and about in hand, either showing, as he has a Welsh Pony & Cob Society passport, or take part in horse agility or fun classes. Peanut has been lightly backed at Glenda Spooner Farm but he has not had a rider on board. It would be a possibility in the home, to continue his progress towards being a ridden pony, however, due to conformation and size, he does have a strict rider weight limit of 15kg. He has had lots of desensitisation which has included wearing a saddle with sand bags hanging on and having a "dummy" rider on his back. He has been carefully brought on and much of his work has included physiotherapy exercises to increase his core strength. It would be important that if he was going to be ridden at any point, his ground work was restarted to ensure he was strong enough to carry a rider. He does also have the potential to make a driving pony in an experienced home. Peanut must have restricted grazing to prevent weight gain and laminitis. He will also need secure fencing as he is a bit of an escape artist!!! We would love to find a home with other ponies for this sociable little chap and a little human friend to love and adore him.
He is very sweet and inquisitive.
Peanut was brought in to Glenda Spooner Farm in 2012 with several others as part of a large prosecution case. He was successfully rehomed as a youngster / companion but returned in May 2017. He was reassessed and has been brought on carefully.
