Handsome Toby is looking for a home as a non ridden companion. He has been retired from ridden work due to mild age related unsoundness. Toby lives out 24/7 but could be stabled part time in a routine if needed. He is very good to handle but likes routine and although he currently lives in a small herd of geldings, he does like his own space within the field. The ideal companion for Toby would be a passive gelding of any age that he can live with in his twilight years. He may need a turn out rug in winter if the weather is very wet and cold. Toby loves a bit of pampering so if he could have a little of this daily, this would be the perfect home for him.
Very good to handle in and out of the stable but would suit an adult handler.
Toby originally came in to the care of World Horse Welfare in 2011, as part of a welfare case. He was in poor condition with severe thrush in his hooves due to being constantly stabled on filthy bedding. He was rehabilitated and successfully rehomed for many years as a ridden horse. He has only returned due to a change in the rehomers circumstances. On assessment with our specialists, Toby was found to have mild, probably age related lameness so he has now been retired from ridden work.
