Sprite recently returned from loan and is now ready to find a new home as a youngster/companion. He is the friendliest pony and loves nothing better than lots of fuss and attention and will fall asleep while being groomed. He also loves nothing better than playing with the horse agility ball and has mastered a great throw with his teeth!! It will be important, however, that Sprite continues to understand ground rules especially as he has grown quite a bit since his arrival at the centre. During his rehabilitation Sprite learnt to walk in hand, meet our specialists and is very good to catch. He also learnt about loading and travelling. He currently lives out 24/7 with geldings but has mixed with mares and geldings equally well in the past. He is incredibly sociable so we are looking to find him a home with other ponies or horses that he can interact with. He has successfully lived in for short periods, but ideally should live out as much as possible. The perfect home for Sprite would be with someone who has experience of youngsters and has the time to dedicate to him in his formative years, before he returns to Glenda Spooner Farm for further assessment. His poor conformation and a very poor start in life mean that Sprite may not be suitable for ridden work, hence we are looking for a youngster handling home at this stage. He will need regular, 6 weekly farrier visits to ensure that his foot balance is correct at all times. Sprite has a predicted adult height of 15hh.
He is good to handle and very friendly but as with all youngsters, will need to continue with correct handling.
Sprite arrived at Glenda Spooner Farm with his mother and another pony in February 2016. They were extremely thin and had no access to water. Sprite was successfully rehomed but returned recently due to a change in his rehomer's circumstances.
